My awesome daughter...

Cuckoo!

The other day was a tough day for a mom!
My youngest daughter has unfortunately not developed a friendship with her toothbrush.
They just don't click...
So she had to pay the price and got a small cavity that needed to be taken care of.
And wow, she was the bravest, coolest and toughest little girl I have ever seen.

The dentist put a mask with "ice cream" gas ( because it smells like ice cream) to make her relaxed, a pair of sunglasses to protect her eyes from the light and then asked Bella to wiggle her fingers while she was making her numb.
Bella did all that without saying a word!
I just know myself and my fear for dentists ( sorry dad, nothing personal) so I was just so impressed with her cool behaviour.

An important soft toy, many helping and caring hands and the world's best dentist combined with my daughters positive attitude was absolutely a winning concept.
Somewhere deep inside me in a dark little corner of the mean me I was kind of hoping for some "uncomfortability" so she would think to herself that she better start brushing her teeth so she does not have to go through something like this again...
'But I'm afraid I have to persuade, remind and encourage her from a different angle now because this experience was to her nothing. ( which I'm very happy for, we don't want any tears going to the dentist)
So we left the dentist office witha fixed tooth and smiles on our face and in our hearts.
If Bella was high on fumes i was high on pride.
The only difference was her's faded but im still feeling proud...

Did I ever tell you what an awesome daughter I've got?!

Greetings from Sweden

Cuckoo!

Days are floating by and so do we.
Everything around here is asleep, all the shops in the "touristic areas" are closed and recharging for the coming high season.
Its quiet, beautiful and extremely peaceful.
Till we enter the place that is...

I guess they felt they wanted to jump, dance and give voice to that "spring scream" in order to help speed up this coming season:)
When the girls are in this mood the sea surface seems to be sprinkled with diamonds, the sun is more golden than ever and the birds look like flying hearts.

For an ordinary Thursday in Sweden I have absolutely no complaints:)

Seven years ago...

Cuckoo!

Seven years ago this little girl decided to enter the world.
Seven years ago my heart once again overflowed with love and happiness.
Seven years ago our family got complete...

This little girl who is so full of laughter, humour, stubbornness, kindness, curiosity, positive energy and independence.
This little girl who joins our adventure wherever we go and whatever we do with the same wonderful attitude.
This little girl who takes on every activity with full focus and concentration.

For seven years we have been going through ups and downs, laughs and cries, singing and tantrums...
For seven years she has been delivering hope, enthusiasm and a never ending love.
For seven years she has been sharing, contributing and adding to our family life.

For seven years she has brought flavor to our life!

Hippy happy birthday Bella!
Always stay the way you are!

Retainer time

Cuckoo!

Today the birds decided to keep quiet, maybe it was too cold for them or they got so disappointed with the change of weather they did not bother to waste their energy on something so pathetic like singing for no audience.
Instead I was fortunate to have another singer inside my house.
The reason for her singing had nothing to do with spring feelings.
No, she from today needs to wear a retainer to keep her teeth from closing a gap so the new ones will have room to grow.
That my friends is as good reason as anything else to sing:)

The dentist told her to talk and sing as much as possible to get her tongue to get use to that foreign addition in her mouth but absolutely not try to touch the " brace" using her tongue or fingers, especially not in the beginning since the cement that keeps the retainer fixed needs to dry.
Later I realised the singing was a clever way to keep her tongue and fingers away from that metal rail because everytime she got quiet I found her with her mouth full of fingers...Lol!

It is anyway wonderful how easy it is to spice up a six year old girl's existence.
A retainer and the world is smiling.
Too bad though that the metal rail in her mouth does not show.
No matter what funny faces she is doing...

Have i mentioned that I love her?

My daughter in a fantasy world!

Cuckoo!

Today I found my daughter in the garden in 88 degrees F (31 C) sunny and sticky weather dressed like this!
Is it not so wonderful the way your own fantasy brings you to different places, people and even worlds.
I so want to know where all the winding roads in her mind are leading her:)
I also want to know when all this wonderful fantasy trips actually leave the children...
Think if I would have been able to collect all my daughter's fantasy plays in a jar!
Maybe a jar would have been too small though but still...

And then a suitable moment I could open the lid and let one play out at the time.
My world would have had a pink shimmer around it then.

In a down coat, umbrella and a little purse she told me she was heading to the city a rainy day...
What is a toy compare to all this secret worlds only the kids have the key to enter?
I felt so grateful that I was not immediately chased away but instead very calmly and informatively explained what was going on, like she wold have told me what she had for lunch:)

What a beautiful way to escape the "real world" and get a well needed brake from reality!
Love love love it!!

Gymnastic show!

Cuckoo!

Last weekend it was finally time for my youngest daughter's gymnastic show!
She has been preparing for month...
Made sure the leotard still was in the drawer.
Practised round offs everywhere and whenever there was room enough ( like supermarket, parking lot, or even my kitchen)
Asked like 15 millions time what day it was and how many days till THE day.
And eventually THE day came!!!

So focused, so excited and I could almost touch the state of mind she was in... The star mind:)
In this gymnastics they try on everything that belongs within the word gymnastic.
Its not at all as when I was a kid and the most advanced thing you did was jumping on the trampoline.
No this is hard core from the beginning.
High bars, balance beams, trampoline, rope, mat and everything else in between.
Kids love it!!!
They have absolutely no fear what so ever!

A mother's heart overflows with love watching the small individuals being so enthusiastics and it does not matter that what they do is crooked, wobbly or wrong.
All the glowing and smiling that surrounds them are telling us that this is FUN!

What a wonderful way of spending a Sunday!!!

My little bath nymph and her foam animals!

Cuckoo!

Is there anything that gives a small child more satisfaction than water of any kind?
At least my kids have probably been everything from seals to gold fishes in their previous life.
If there was water...they were in:)
Sometimes with their clothes on...
Bella has been no exception although she always stayed with the mermaid theme.

When the mermaid state left her, she suddenly felt a little bored in the bath.
It was not as exciting anymore...
This is when the capsules were introduced to her.
But not any capsules...
Magical capsules!!!
Capsules with a surprise!

When those capsules come in contact with the water they dissolve and leave behind a small shapeless piece of foam.
After a few minutes in the water this piece of foam has grown into a perfectly shaped wild foam animal.
Different coloured capsule means a different animal means a lot of excitement and fun!
By the time the capsules has transformed into an animal shape and Bella into a raisin the water is cold but the mood is on top!
We leave the animals to dry on the edge of the bath so they are ready to play next time it's time for a bath and I bring a smiling and fragrant little girl to bed.

Who needs a mermaid when there is water with a surprise!
Can a bath be better?!
Now I need to figure out how to make the shower more interesting...
